All manufacturing processes have an environmental impact and although we are working hard to reduce our carbon footprint, since 2008 we have offset the GWP of coated NatureFlex™ films to negate the effect of NatureFlex™ production.
We have worked with two leading carbon service companies, co2balance and CarbonNeutral, and have invested in a number of different schemes, including reforestation, solar ovens and anaerobic digestion.
2008 Schemes
In 2008, we worked with a leading carbon services company,
co2balance, who provide carbon reduction schemes both locally and globally. Innovia Films took part in two projects; reforestation in Cumbria and the distribution of solar ovens to poor communities in Africa.
2009 Schemes
In 2009, we continued to work with
co2balance to offset the residual carbon balance of our coated NatureFlex films, through a project in Kenya for energy efficient stoves. We also contributed to a renewable energy hydro power project.
2010 Scheme
In 2010, Innovia Films invested in the development of anaerobic digestion (AD) facilities at five farms in the Netherlands, after gaining accreditation with
CarbonNeutral.
2011 Scheme
In 2011, Innovia Films are dedicating the carbon offsetting financial allocation to fund a range of specific projects on our sites, designed to directly reduce our product carbon footprint. These will include low energy lighting, meters for monitoring specific energy usage within the manufacturing facility and energy efficient motors.
