Development Scientist/Project Leader

Location - Wigton, CumbriaWe are looking to recruit two Development Scientists/Project Leaders within our R & D Department, based in Wigton, Cumbria.
As part of an ongoing programme of continuous development and improvement, the successful candidates will work as part of a small, multi-disciplined team on the development, refinement and modification of products and processes to meet the business strategy.
Areas of activity will include: -
- involvement in and leadership of a range of New Product Development, Process Technology and Support activities.
- taking an active role in R & D projects, support of development trials, development and scale-up of new products and raw material approvals in line with the business objectives.
- provision of technical advice in the day to day production of all film types, liaising closely with Plant Managers to ensure optimum production output across all units.
Ideally candidates will have experience of working within an R & D Department in a manufacturing environment, have excellent inter-personal and communication skills at all levels, have good problem solving skills, and be organised, logical and self motivated.
The successful candidates would be educated to degree level in a science or engineering based discipline, preferably with significant experience in filmic and/or coating technologies.
Applicants should have a flexible approach to working hours as the job-holders will occasionally be required to undertake discontinuous shift work.
