We are proud of our highly qualified and exceptionally skilled team of 70 pioneering R&D specialists and our extensive collection of sophisticated and groundbreaking equipment, much of it developed in-house by our own engineers and scientists.
Our advanced and unique state-of-the-art facilities enable us to remain at the forefront of international research and development services in our specialised fields:
- We can perform highly detailed analyses of engineered surfaces such as AFM (Atomic Force Microscopy) and ToF-SIMS (Time of Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectroscopy) and optical profiling. The extreme surface sensitivity of our instruments enables us to further enhance our products with innovative features, benefits and effects.
- Our scanning electron microscopes (SEM) provide superb spatial resolution and depth of field providing invaluable technical insights into the structure and features of our products from inception to launch.
- Testing of new and unusual materials is all in a day’s work for us. We use our small scale extruders to observe how materials behave and what additional benefits they can bring to our products. Using pilot scale equipment, such as the Rondol multilayer extruder, we can trial polymers, and potential materials and products without disrupting our main production lines.
- Our Process Development Centre is the heart of our cellulose production process. Here we can develop and trial new formulations ensuring continual improvement and innovation.
- Our understanding of polymer melt and flow characteristics is key to the success of our business and our polymer analysis and characterisation work underpins our ongoing research and development activity.
- We are proud to hold UKAS ISO 17025 accreditation for migration testing of products used in the food wrapping industry.
Project management and regulatory compliance
As you would expect from a business that operates on global scale, we have stringent project management systems in place and established procedures to ensure our products and processes fully comply with national and international regulatory requirements.
