New Easy 'Snap Wrap' Collation Films
Date: 26 September 2008
Innovia Films has developed a new range of easy open films for the tobacco overwrap market – ‘Snap Wrap’.‘Snap Wrap’ is the direct result of work carried out at Innovia Films’ own Research and Development facility. The film’s evolution has been driven to meet the needs of both tobacco manufacturers, who are looking to move from cartons to naked collation and also to aid easy pack removal from collated bundles for retailers.
‘Snap Wrap’ is printable, eradicates tear tape and avoids damage to the packs by eliminating the use of sharp instruments to open the bundles. Scored lines are applied to the film at predetermined positions to coincide with the edges of packs in the collation bundles. This feature gives localised weakening of the film and offers customers the benefits of snapping the film at the scored lines to remove two packs at a time, whilst the remainder of the bundle stays collated.
The ‘Snap Wrap’ range is available in scored Propafilm™ and NatureFlex™ films for Clear Naked Collation Overwrap.
Propafilm™ ‘Snap Wrap’ is offered as RCZ01 in Standard Clear (available in 25 microns) and SRCZ01 Shrink Clear Collation Film (available in 24 microns) and is two side acrylic coated.
NatureFlex™ ‘Snap Wrap’ film NE30Z01 (available in 23 microns) is a transparent, cellulose based film, which is home compostable.
“Snap Wrap is a major development for both the retailer and consumer. It makes it very easy to snap two packs from a bundle at a time, thanks to the novel system devised by Innovia Films for the design and method of application of the scored lines. Tobacco companies also benefit from a simpler process, with the elimination of tear tape from the collation pack.” said Chris Hooley, Innovia Films’ Global Marketing Manager, Overwrap.
Innovia Films will be attending the Global Tobacco Networking Forum in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 15-17 October 2008 and will also be exhibiting at World Tobacco in Macau, Stand F4, 11-13 November 2008.
