New White Packaging Film Gives Cut-Size Paper a Visual Lift

Date: 5 December 2005

A new white glossy packaging film, developed specifically for the cut-size paper market has been introduced by Innovia Films.

Propaream™ T710W is the latest addition to the Propaream range.  Based on the proven technology of Innovia Film’s market-leading transparent T710 material, Propaream™ T710W comprises the same water-based acrylic coatings to ensure consistent and reliable sealability within a large operating window, even at high speeds.

This sealability eliminates the need to apply adhesive and consequently means a cleaner packing operation and reduced risk of contamination.

Combined with the film’s excellent moisture barrier, the superb seal integrity achieved also ensures that the paper quality is maintained, moisture ingress prevented.

Because Propafilm™ T710W is “bubble” produced biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP), it gives excellent film feed during both printing and packaging, good deadfold and easy cutting.

The new film comprises a voided structure that provides its excellent paper like opacity which in turn reduces the density of the film, thereby providing a much higher yield than standard films.

It is, however, in the area of visual presentation that the film really excels. Its shiny bright whiteness and excellent printability takes graphic enhancement to a new level, according to the company.

Says Innovia Films Market Manager for Speciality Packaging Films, Amaia Cowan: “Propaream™ T710W has been developed in response to the industry’s demand for differentiated high quality presentation combined with outstanding on-line performance and product protection.”
