Composting Certification

Following successful completion of the relevant test programmes, material producers can apply for formal certification from the official agencies. Similarly customers who use these materials can arrange for ‘product certification’ so that products wrapped in certified packaging can carry the relevant composting logo.

This logo not only confirms that the material is fully compostable, but also allows the end consumer and/or municipal authorities to recognise compostable packaging and dispose of it accordingly.

All NatureFlex™ films are certified to EN13432 and ASTM D6400 standards.

Customers who purchase our NatureFlex™ films can potentially use them as the basis for achieving their own product certification.  The rules, testing requirements and costs involved will vary depending on the complexity of the conversion carried out on the materials.

For example, providing a suitable ink system is employed, and ink coverage is kept to a minimum then further testing is unlikely to be required and a simple 'product certification' may be achieved.  However, more complex conversion, heavy print coverage and/or lamination will almost certainly require further testing.  Customers should seek advice from their Innovia Films contact and/or Dincertco, AIB Vinçotte or the UK Composting Association on this subject.
