For the first time, a recycled PP has achieved food-safety to European standards, enabling it to be turned into high-quality packaging. This Prevented Ocean Plastic offering is being brought to market with the support of major industry stakeholders from throughout the supply chain. The initiative is expected to stop 500 million plastic cups from entering the ocean in its first year, enough to wrap around the Earth.

Once collected and washed, the material is then processed using world-first novel technology, turning it into high-quality, food-safe recycled polypropylene (rPP). The innovation, in the novel technology stage, sees each batch third-party scientifically tested according to industry standards and then supplied by Bantam Materials UK Ltd (Owner of the Prevented Ocean Plastic programme) to key offtakers.

The new initiative is part of the Prevented Ocean Plastic scalable franchise model which can be repeated in any at-risk coastal community.

Feedstock Source: Post Consumer PP from Southeast Asia.

PCR source: rPP pellets toll processed by PETMAN (Austria).

Controlled Collection & Sortation: Prevented Ocean Plastic (POP) Collection Centres in Southeast Asia collect, segregate, sort and distribute material under the same Standards as our rPET supply chain.

Food‑safety process: PETMAN uses Starlinger Viscotec equipment, whose process has competent‑authority approval. All RIN/RON/RFN identifiers are listed on the European Commission website.

As a novel technology, each batch is NIAS tested, generating data to support Annex III compliance documentation.

Traceability & Sustainability: Delivered via the Prevented Ocean Plastic programme governed by our third party audited Standards.
